Debbie began training under Grandmaster Kwon, Jae Hwa's federation in 1983. During those years, Debbie traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. As a member of the USA Team under Grandmaster Kwon's Federation, Debbie was undefeated in forms & sparring. Debbie received her 1st Dan in 1986 under Grandmaster Kwon and continued her training extensively and is currently a 4th Dan under Kwon's Federation.

In 1991, Debbie and her mother (Pat) were the first women in Kwon's Federation to open a TaeKwon-Do school in the U.S.(Davie, Florida). Debbie and her mother continued under Kwon's federation teaching children and adults traditional taekwondo.  Debbie also taught step aerobics at the dojang.

Carlos & Debbie were married in 1999 and have continued their commitment to TaeKwon-Do through training and teaching for Physical, Mental & Spiritual aspects of life. In addition to their TaeKwon-Do teaching, Carlos and Debbie have four children.

In 2006 Carlos & Debbie opened Kwon, Jae Hwa Traditional Taekwondo Center of Sunrise, in Sunrise, FL.  After 10+ years at this location the school moved in April 2019 to bigger facility in Tamarac, Florida under the new name of Black Belt Center of Tamarac.

In 2015 and 2016 Debbie competed in the NPC Bikini competition and was recognized both years as the over 50 NPC Bikini Champion.  Currently Debbie teaches the Boot Camp classes at Black Belt Center of Tamarac helping to inspire women through health and fitness.        

Debbie continues to train in Taekwondo as well as teach the Boot Camp classes at the Black Belt Center of Tamarac hoping to empower more women through the martial arts.
